Ventura Highway

Sunny Green Organic Oolong

Rated 4.2 out of 5
Based on 13 reviews

Tastes Like: meyer lemon curd, fresh grass, linen
Feels Like: driving down the californian coast

Few drives have the gentle drama of the route winding along the 101 highway from Los Angeles to Montecito. Once you cross the border into Ventura County, the city chaos fades away, leaving your body lighter with each inhale of crisp saline air. This tea is mellow and slightly sweet as green oolongs go. The bright citrus notes and undercurrent of sweet freshly cut grass in this tea summon the freedom of the open road and the spirit of easy breezy summer days. A tea for lazy mornings and meandering afternoons.

Pale, weak taste

Not bad but I prefer a slightly more robust oolong. Not a lot of flavor in this one.

Solid

Silky smooth, light touch of sweetness. Was very excited to see this tea came from Cihang Rai. I've visited this region of Thailand and was obsessed with the tea and drank it as often as I could while there. This did not disappoint. Will be ordering a lot more of this. This also helped quiet down a queasy tummy from the consequences of too much fun last night 😅.

Bright and fun

I am not a tea expert or snob, but August teas are helping me to start taking tea more seriously. As in enjoying them. This green tea is one of my favorites so far. Very good.

This one surprised me! I liked it a lot!

When I bought this tea I thought it was a regular green tea and not a green oolong. I'm not usually a fan of oolong teas as I generally think they have a funk to them that tastes like rancid tea.

But I liked this one a lot and I was surprised! I drank the whole pot, lol.

like taking a sip of a sunny forest

if you're experiencing bitterness with this tea, you're probably steeping it too hot. oolongs really need 190f - a temperature controlled kettle is really useful here, or let your boiling water calm down for a minute before pouring it over the leaves. that being said, oolongs like this DO have a really vegetal flavor. you either love it or hate it, but steeping it wrong isn't giving it a fair chance - no matter what, it shouldn't be bitter. this tea is gorgeous, at once airy and grounding, it's the forest floor and the leaves high up in the sky. the flavor is primarily green and vegetal, with natural floral notes and a gentle honeyed finish. drinking it feels luxurious, calming and energizing all at once. it resteeps very well, also.
