Smooth Sencha
This is one of the smoothest tasting green teas that I have ever had. It’s delicate with a buttery finish. I plan to keep this one in rotation.

Tastes Like: sweet alfalfa, almond, mâche
Feels Like: the gentle hum of cicadas in the afternoon
We just received a new crop of this wonderful single-origin Japanese green tea. This is a sencha Americans will love. This one is sweet and delicate, unlike many senchas. It has a marvelous bright green color. With each sip, you feel a rejuvenating, cooling sensation. As an iced tea, it is even sweeter, milder and more refreshing. Grown in Chiran, Japan, this first flush tea was grown near the Sakurajima volcano in mild, fertile soil. Villages have been growing tea in this area since around 1872.

I LOVE this tea! It's easily my favorite and I have already repurchased it several times. I can't really explain why I love it, but it feels so clean and bright and fresh, and I can re-steep it multiple times and it's equally delightful each time. It's definitely a more delicate tea than some of the other bolder flavors available (I like those too, for the record) - but this one...I can drink this one all day long and never tire of it.
I love green tea, so I really wanted to like this. It's got a clean taste, not very complex, fairly delicate. Unfortunately it is named very appropriately - the flavor is similar to chewing on the leaves of a willow tree. There's a bitter, dirt - like flavor to it that just won't abate no matter what I added to it - sugar, agave nectar, honey . . . nothing helped the near grass - clipping taste. Couldn't get past it.
Thank you for your honest review, Lauren. We're sorry you didn’t enjoy Under the Willow. Our Customer Support Team will contact you shortly.
I loved the green tea when I visited japan. This is that tea, but I can buy it in the United States.
A green tea I don't dislike! And, given me and green tea, this is actually high praise. I was unsure, even after brewing and lifting my mug, because the aroma I was expecting was a sweet, haylike one after the alfalfa descriptor...but what I got instead was a whiff of lightly iodine seaweed...almost like nori, which I don't super love. Kind of oceanic. The taste, though is light and delicate, and decidedly not like kelp, or anything like that. It's interesting and soothing. I think I might have oversteeped it for my taste, so my next mug, I'll play with a shorter time. Although I don't think I'm won over to green teas as my number one hot beverage of choice, it's good to have another option in the arsenal for those times when you feel like changing it up. And I just knew if I was going to find a green tea that works for me, it'd be here.
