Enter a summer orchard where the scent of juicy ripening fruit waves gently in the air. This is a naturally sweet, fruity floral tea bursting with pink lady apple and Anjou pear, and orange peel. Each sip has a silky, smooth texture and lingering aroma of ripe fruit and grand mariner orange liqueur. This is a fruity blend of green rooibos and honeybush, dried apple, bergamot peel and bergamot orange essence. Each sip has a lingering sweet-tart finish. Its aroma is a delightful bouquet of orange blossom, linden and quince. A touch of honey enhances its sweetness. It is bright and soothing hot. Over ice it makes a summery mocktail. A tea for lovers of bergamot and floral fruits.

📝 Blender's Notes

The Orchard was inspired by my quest to create an herbal Earl Grey tea. The result is, however, far from traditional.

This is a fun play on bergamot, the signature ingredient in Earl Grey. It’s a super fruity herbal tea full of bright flavor and natural sweetness. Where Earl Grey is elegant, The Orchard is jubilant.

What I love about Earl Grey is the contrast of bright bergamot citrus and the earthy tannins of black tea. How to achieve something similar with no tea leaves was a fun challenge. I wanted something more complex than rooibos with bergamot, or a decaf Earl Grey. So I looked for a way to showcase bergamot in a robust herbal blend.

To create depth, I combined honeybush, which is earthy and slightly honey-like, and herbaceous green rooibos for brightness. This unusual base lets bergamot citrus flavor shine. The sweetness of dried apple and sweet blackberry leaf balance the sharpness of bergamot.

The Orchard has a juicy fruity floral aroma and flavor with a touch of bitter citrus in the finish. It conjures an orchard in late summer where the scent of sweet grass and ripe fruit mingle in the humid air.

With summer in mind, I like the Orchard best iced. It retains its bold juiciness even with a ton of ice. When hot, it is an earthy elegant tea. It’s naturally quite sweet but you may want to add a touch of honey just for fun.

I recommend the Orchard to citrus and fruit tea lovers. Its sweet aroma will put you in a sunshine state of mind any time of year.

🔥 Brewing Directions

Hot Brewing 10 oz

Heat 212°f/100°c water
Add 3.5g tea, about 2 teaspoons
Pour 10oz/300ml hot water
Infuse 4-5 mins. Longer is stronger.
Repeat Reinfuse 1-2 times

Iced Brewing 10 oz

Heat 212°f/100°c water
Add 3.5g tea, about 2 teaspoons
Pour ~3oz hot water to barely cover tea leaves
Infuse 4-5 mins. Longer is stronger.
Dilute with 7oz cold water
Serve Over ice

Pro tip: If you want more concentrated flavor, try doubling the tea leaves in this recipe.

Bergamot lovers delight
Actually, the Bergamot peeks through the apple flavor with a surprising morning tea note. I am not an herbal tea drinker most of the time, but this will be my go-to tea for a while!!! Delightfully subtle with a bold personality. A new fav for sure!!!

Bravo!
This blend has been the star of my backyard silent bookclub all week. While most of us prefer the iced version we do have one who prefers it hot. It's sweet on its own but a bit of honey is nice as well. I prefer it iced, as is at the moment but I'm looking forward to hot mugfulls when the nights get cooler this fall. It smells far more medicinal than it tastes to me. I stuck my nose in the bag and thought I wouldn't like it but, I like everything about it. I'm not too big a fan of bergamot generally but it seems more at home with the apple, just look at all those apple pieces! I'm very happy that it's in an herbal blend as well because I don't pay attention to time all that much and have frequently enjoyed caffeine far too late in the day! Good job on this one! I'm a big fan!!

Summery and Refreshing
Orchard is unlike anything I've had from August before. I've recently been drinking lots of rooibos and this is the new favorite. It's vanilla-y and fruity without being cloying. It's delicious hot and cold, perfect for a summer afternoon.

Takes me back to childhood
This tea is amazing. It smells just like a green apple jolly rancher and the taste, while similar, is much more muted. Very enjoyable with no need for sugar. If you have a candy craving, this will satisfy it for sure. Love it!
