A Field in Innsbruck: Wildflower Honey Black Tea

$13.75
Size

Tastes Like: blackcurrant, juniper, honey, spruce
Feels Like: a walk through alpine woods

As the Austrian Alps warm they offer a multitude of aromas and colors. A forest walk leads to unexpected clearings redolent of grasses, herbs and wildflowers in full bloom. The bright spruce aroma overhead and earthy fir needles meld with the soil underfoot. Brushing along bushes and ground cover brings an intense burst of fragrant herbs and ripe blackcurrant berries warmed by the sun. This tea offers a majestic aromatic journey. Add milk and honey to enhance the berry sweetness. This makes an extraordinary iced tea.

Ingredients
south indian FBOP black tea, chinese pu’erh tea, juniper berry, honey granules, blackcurrant, cornflower petals, rosemary, thyme, natural flavor of red currant

📝 Blender's Notes

This fresh black tea blend evokes forest bathing in the Alps. It's an update of an earlier tea blend of the same name.

This blend emerged from the idea of a tea that captured the essence of a forest and prairie walk among the herbs and berries and sweet earth. It's got a lovely bouquet of dark berries like juniper and blackcurrant alongside rosemary, thyme and cornflower. There is a very light touch of pu'erh for some extra depth. If you are unfamiliar with pu'erh tea, it is a special fermented black tea that is prized for digestive and other health properties.

For our 2024 version, I decided to soften the herbaceous and earthy flavors by adding honey granules. It is not a sweet tea to my tastebuds.

This tea is an aromatic spa experience. Lovers of wildflower honey, juniper and gin will appreciate this flavor.

There are those who will shy away from this tea for its juniper, the pu'erh, or the herbs. I've tried to strike a lovely balance where no ingredient dominates. My hope is that this blend will be a delightful experience for anyone who's looking for a truly unique flavor..

I'd love for you to try it hot and iced. Add a splash of your favorite milk. If you're inclined to add more honey, please do. This is a blend that defies the usual flavor categories found in tea. It's a lot to ponder in each sip.

I can't wait to hear what you think.

Warmly,
Gina Zupsich

Liquid Evergreens

This has got to be one of the weirdest, if not the weirdest tea I've ever had from August Uncommon. I don't hate it, but it is NOWHERE like what i was expecting. I was expecting a blackcurrant and gin mocktail like tea, August does mocktail teas pretty darn good so I was really looking forward to taste this. Instead it tastes like I'm drinking an evergreen tree or drinking rosemary tea in an evergreen forest. No where would I describe this as a "Wildflower honey" tea or a "blackcurrant" tea. Of the descriptors on the front of the bag the only two accurate ones are "juniper" and "spruce". Even with honey added it tastes like liquidified shrubs and herbs, but now sweetened. Maybe I have a 2023 batch since the description for 2024 says it is less herbal, but if this is the less herbal batch then I can't imagine what it tasted like BEFORE. I've had two cups now and it's indeed "a lot to ponder". Like I said not undrinkable, but not what I wanted or expected and definitely won't be ordering ever again.

Caught me by surprise

After I had my first cup I was a little iffy on the tea; however it quickly became a favorite of mine! I enjoy that it’s a heartier flavor with hints of honey and floral.

Woodsy with a hint of fruit

Haven't tried iced but this is a good hot tea and can't wait for fall as it will be great tea to sip outside by a firepit.

LOVE a good floral.

I love a good floral tea. ( I know there was a recent article that mentioned some florals that were discontinued. Please never discontinue too many florals!!!) This one is wonderful. I did add a little more honey from our backyard bee hives because I like my tea pretty sweet. I was pleasantly surprised that I feel I can taste just a bit of the outdoorsy, woodsy taste in each sip and I really love it. Flavor is fantastic and I'm a big fan of this sample. I will be back to order more. Great job, August!

My favorite tea

This has become my go to in a way i didnt expect- it seems so specific with its floral and juniper and honey notes but i just want it all the time. Add a little milk, its perfectly balanced and a beautiful experience.
