Tastes Like: blackcurrant, juniper, honey, spruce
Feels Like: a walk through alpine woods

As the Austrian Alps warm they offer a multitude of aromas and colors. A forest walk leads to unexpected clearings redolent of grasses, herbs and wildflowers in full bloom. The bright spruce aroma overhead and earthy fir needles meld with the soil underfoot. Brushing along bushes and ground cover brings an intense burst of fragrant herbs and ripe blackcurrant berries warmed by the sun. This tea offers a majestic aromatic journey. Add milk and honey to enhance the berry sweetness. This makes an extraordinary iced tea.

📝 Blender's Notes

This fresh black tea blend evokes forest bathing in the Alps. It's an update of an earlier tea blend of the same name.

This blend emerged from the idea of a tea that captured the essence of a forest and prairie walk among the herbs and berries and sweet earth. It's got a lovely bouquet of dark berries like juniper and blackcurrant alongside rosemary, thyme and cornflower. There is a very light touch of pu'erh for some extra depth. If you are unfamiliar with pu'erh tea, it is a special fermented black tea that is prized for digestive and other health properties.

For our 2024 version, I decided to soften the herbaceous and earthy flavors by adding honey granules. It is not a sweet tea to my tastebuds.

This tea is an aromatic spa experience. Lovers of wildflower honey, juniper and gin will appreciate this flavor.

There are those who will shy away from this tea for its juniper, the pu'erh, or the herbs. I've tried to strike a lovely balance where no ingredient dominates. My hope is that this blend will be a delightful experience for anyone who's looking for a truly unique flavor..

I'd love for you to try it hot and iced. Add a splash of your favorite milk. If you're inclined to add more honey, please do. This is a blend that defies the usual flavor categories found in tea. It's a lot to ponder in each sip.

I can't wait to hear what you think.

Warmly,
Gina Zupsich

My opinion has changed

So, I originally wrote a review stating the bag I received had more of a rosemary/thyme taste than anything and got more flavorful and less rosemary tasting the further I got down the bag. However, I reordered because I really did like the flavor I was getting the more I had of it. And I can say my opinion has changed with this new bag and the flavor I’m getting from the start is what I was hoping for all along. It has a more berry/honey flavor with a hint of rosemary, which is perfect! I would give it 4 stars and will definitely add to my rotation of August teas now.

Not really my cup of tea… (I know, I know)

We got this on a whim because it was suggested when I was checking out but it’s not a favorite and I won’t be getting it again. It has an oregano scent that evokes lasagna to me and I can’t get past it. Tried it with and without sweetener and still a no for me.

First Class Travel for your Mouth

I don't think they could have named this tea anything more perfect than A Field in Innsbruck. On opening the package the smell of herbaceous shrubs with tart berries lets you know that you're not in Kansas anymore. The tea translates exactly as it presents via smell....it has the earthiness of the herbs, tartness of currant and the captivation of your mind as you find yourself somewhere completely different....which is what this tea promises by it's name. Unique and vast in it's reflection of nature, give it a try. You'll remember this, guaranteed.

One of my new favorite teas

The juniper berry gives it a very unique taste and I love that they combined black tea and pu’erh! It's so hard to mix pu’erh with other teas and they managed to do it quite successfully!

Thought it would be more sweet than savory.

I figured a tea listed as Wildflower Honey black tea would be sweet and flowery, but the rosemary & thyme overshadow most of the other flavors. I couldn't even finish the first cup. :( If they weren't so strong it would probably be good but I just can't get past the savory overtones. Really disappointed in this one.
