📝 Blender's Notes

This blend was inspired by childhood winters in New Hampshire with my late father: the glorious scent of pine and maple in the January maple harvest season. My father was a great admirer of Thoreau whose Walden is perhaps the most famous celebration of New England wilderness. I found the name Civil Disobedience (after Thoreau's essay) suitably bold, iconoclastic and evocative of the New England scentscape. — Gina, cofounder

🔥 Brewing Directions

Hot Brewing 10 oz

Heat 212°f/100°c water
Add 3.5g tea, about 2 teaspoons
Pour 10oz/300ml hot water
Infuse 4-5 mins. Longer is stronger.
Repeat Reinfuse 1-2 times

Iced Brewing 10 oz

Heat 212°f/100°c water
Add 3.5g tea, about 2 teaspoons
Pour ~3oz hot water to barely cover tea leaves
Infuse 4-5 mins. Longer is stronger.
Dilute with 7oz cold water
Serve Over ice

Pro tip: If you want more concentrated flavor, try doubling the tea leaves in this recipe.

Beautifully smoky and rich
I can't say enough good things about this tea. From the first whiff of steam that hits your nose, it is cozy and warm. The hint of smoke from the lapsang souchong adds complexity and depth, and the richness of the cardamom warms you from the inside out. For me, the caffeine level makes it a great morning option. I particularly like it with a splash of milk.

Top five tea
What can I say about Civil Disobedience tea? It’s the brew I never knew I was missing, a quiet rebellion in a cup. I’m so grateful it was brought back — smooth yet bold, gentle yet unwaveringly strong. Each sip feels like a small act of comfort and courage. I have many favorites from August Uncommon, but this one easily claims a place among my top five.

Delicious
It had been a while since I had a cup of this so I'm sitting at right now to write my review. I love it, but to me. It is a fall winter tea. I don't know how I feel about this being iced. I definitely like it pot. I enjoyed the car to them and I taste a little cinnamon in there. It does remind me of pumpkin season. It's very good, very tasty and and almost a dessert. I mean, I could drink this in the morning on a cold morning. But does sort of have a dessert flare? Which I enjoy. I like it a lot but it does seem a little heavy for summer. But all but always August. Ine common made another wonderful outstanding tea.

Sad to see it go
I love this tea so much, it is a perfect balance of smoke and spice from the cardamom. Really hoping to see it come back some day, nothing compares to this blend. Smoky teas are hard to nail without them succumbing to pure campfire taste and this blend does it so perfectly. Please reconsider discontinuing!!!
