📝 Blender's Notes

This blend was inspired by childhood winters in New Hampshire with my late father: the glorious scent of pine and maple in the January maple harvest season. My father was a great admirer of Thoreau whose Walden is perhaps the most famous celebration of New England wilderness. I found the name Civil Disobedience (after Thoreau's essay) suitably bold, iconoclastic and evocative of the New England scentscape. — Gina, cofounder

🔥 Brewing Directions

Hot Brewing 10 oz

Heat 212°f/100°c water
Add 3.5g tea, about 2 teaspoons
Pour 10oz/300ml hot water
Infuse 4-5 mins. Longer is stronger.
Repeat Reinfuse 1-2 times

Iced Brewing 10 oz

Heat 212°f/100°c water
Add 3.5g tea, about 2 teaspoons
Pour ~3oz hot water to barely cover tea leaves
Infuse 4-5 mins. Longer is stronger.
Dilute with 7oz cold water
Serve Over ice

Pro tip: If you want more concentrated flavor, try doubling the tea leaves in this recipe.

Unexpected Delight

While the flavor profile description sounded too good to be true, this stuff delivers. I have to splash all teas with a spot of quality milk to cut the tannins and this tea stands up to that. So happy that I've tried it and reordered.

Chai’s older brother

This has that smoke lapsong feel with that hint of spice in the after notes. Has that deliberate black tea taste. Mix in some coconut cream and I think I am anything but civil. I enjoy this with my dinner

Best. Tea. Ever.

Civil Disobedience is hands down the best tea I have ever had. It feels like a special occasion every time I enjoy a cup. Unfortunately, since I have been forced to cut caffeine from diet it is a pleasure I have had to go without for several years now. Please, please, please make a decaf version of Civil Disobedience so that I can savor this special experience again. Thank you!!
