Leatherbound Black Tea Stone Sour (bonus low ABV version)

We're bringing back this 80s classic cocktail. It's sweet and sour, nutty and rich, and utterly addictive. You'll wonder where this drink has been all your life. Bourbon gets some black magic with an infusion of rich black tea with cacao and caraway. Make it low ABV with only Amaretto. Recipe below.

Makes 1 drink
Prep time: 2 hours for bourbon infusion

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Leatherbound-infused bourbon
  • 2 ounces Amaretto
  • 2 ounces sour mix
  • Splash of orange juice

Preparation

  • Infuse bourbon with Leatherbound tea
  • Fill a rocks glass with ice
  • Stir together Leatherbound infused bourbon, amaretto, and sour mix
  • Add a splash of orange juice
  • Garnish with cherry and orange slice
  • Enjoy!

Infused Bourbon Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon (3.5 grams) Leatherbound tea
  • 4 ounces bourbon

Infused Bourbon Preparation

  • In a glass container, add 1 tablespoon Leatherbound tea to 4 ounces of bourbon
  • Infuse for 2 hours, stirring or shaking every 30 minutes
  • Remove tea from bourbon by pouring it into a glass through a fine mesh strainer

Makes 4 ounces of Leatherbound-infused bourbon.

Our Sour Mix Recipe

  • 4 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 4 ounces freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 4 ounces simple syrup

Sour Mix Preparation

  • Remove pulp from the juice by straining through a fine mesh strainer. 
  • Stir together all ingredients. 

Makes 12 ounces sour mix.


Low ABV Version

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Leatherbound double concentrate
  • 2 ounces Amaretto
  • 2 ounces sour mix
  • Splash of orange juice

Tea Concentrate Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons (7 grams) Leatherbound tea
  • 10 ounces water

Tea Concentrate Preparation

  • Infuse 2 tablespoons Leatherbound tea with 10 ounces 212°F water for 5 minutes
  • Strain and cool to room temperature 
  • Refrigeration causes cloudy tea

Preparation

  • Make Leatherbound concentrate. Cool to room temperature.
  • Fill a rocks glass with ice
  • Stir together tea concentrate, amaretto, and sour mix
  • Add a splash of orange juice
  • Garnish with cherry and orange slice
  • Enjoy!
