Close your eyes to imagine the warm wooden, gilded interior of a café in Turn-of-the-Century Vienna. On its own, this tea is a strong, malty black tea with hints of cherry weaves around the layers of dark chocolate. A touch of milk softens the tannins and brings out the fruity sweetness of cherry. An excellent choice for breakfast or afternoon with cake, or anytime you need a chocolate fix. A tea for chocolate lovers and black forest cake fans.

🔥 Brewing Directions

Hot Brewing 10 oz

Heat 212°f/100°c water
Add 3.5g tea, about 1 tablespoon
Pour 10oz/300ml hot water
Infuse 4-5 mins. Longer is stronger.
Repeat Reinfuse 1-2 times

Iced Brewing 10 oz

Heat 212°f/100°c water
Add 3.5g tea, about 1 tablespoon
Pour ~3oz hot water to barely cover tea leaves
Infuse 4-5 mins. Longer is stronger.
Dilute with 7oz cold water
Serve Over ice

Pro tip: If you want more concentrated flavor, try doubling the tea leaves in this recipe.

Not my cup of tea

I was excited to try the sample sent of Cabaret. Going by the tasting notes, it should have been a hit but one cup was enough for me.

After diligently drinking my cup and compartmentalizing what flavors I picked up, I realized the German barley malt in the tea was what I didn’t care for. While I expected a bright, slightly sweet, black tea the malt makes it soft and gives the taste of cherries a fermented flavor. Kudos to the creator of this tea, it just wasn’t a hit for me.
