Malty Organic Black Tea

Rated 4.7 out of 5
Based on 114 reviews

Tastes Like: buttered toast, brown bread, almond
Feels Like: morning in the library

Picture the dark wooden walls of a library lined with rows of books, like the iconic Long Room of Trinity College in Dublin. There is a seductive atmosphere that is both austere and comforting. The bready aroma of this tea is complemented by the unique nuttiness of caraway. This high grade black assam tea has a velvety mouthfeel and rich flavor. Hints of cocoa and sweet almond aromas enliven the mix, like the occasional contemporary novel whose glossy cover pops against the worn literary classics. A drop of milk tips the flavor towards a smooth creamy stout. Like sinking into a stately club chair to ponder the pages between your hands, this tea invites reflection. This makes a rich breakfast tea, and a great afternoon tea with shortbread or cherry scones.

Morning Comfort

This tea is bold but not overpowering. I love the slight taste of the caraway and the chocolate. I tried this tea after reading reviews and find that they are all accurate. Great experience. This is now a permanent addition to my tea selection. I drink tea all day long.

Perfectly Named!

I love the mix of caraway and cocoa in this tea. It's full of flavor and well balanced without any one flavor being too dominating.

A must try!

I bought this in a sample size packet after receiving the email sent out from the company to those on their list, encouraging me to try it. I did and it's now one of my top 4 favorites! I love Metropolitan, Black Metallic and Cabaret as my other top 3 black teas from August Uncommon.

My absolute favorite - hands down

This tea sips like you’re sitting in the corner of the Harvard library curled up in a chair curated from the estate of a 1600 oil baron while you read a smutty novel tucked inside a research book. It has this almost sinful decadence that only you can feel while you sip. The second steep has less cocoa and the black tea shines through with a splash of cream.

Smooth, creamy, sweet, without adding a drop of anything else to it.

I was not expecting much from this tea. The caraway definitely hits you high in the nose when you smell the dry leaves, but once steeped, it mellows out and all the flavors blend perfectly together. None stand out above the rest and together they make a beautiful symphony. The first sip blew me away. It's sweet, creamy, and has a velvety smooth texture. I drink tea without any additions, and this one certainly doesn't need it. It's delicious and creamy on its own. Honestly, as I finish my first cup, this tea might be edging out Passage as my favorite from August.

2 teaspoons, ~8oz water, steeped at 212F for 4 minutes.
